As designers, we understand what great design is, both visually and functionally. With data, user behavior, and results, we can objectively assess whether a design works or not. 📊🔍
But the real issue lies elsewhere:
Many clients don’t understand the true value of design.
For them, design is often just the "pretty package."
They see us as the people who make things look nice, something AI can seemingly do too.
"For CHF 50.- I can generate my Logo and Website"
This is where the misconception lies.
Design is not just about aesthetics.
It’s a strategic tool that influences business results, shapes user behavior, and builds trust.
Good design solves problems, creates clarity, and strengthens brands. And that’s exactly why we need people who don’t just design, but think! With an understanding of target audiences, brand positioning, usability, psychology, and technology. 🧠🔧
That's why I say:
"Artists are afraid, Designers aren't."
AI may take over certain design tasks, but it doesn’t understand context, the nuances of a product, audience, or market. And most importantly, AI can’t generate empathy.
Great design always results from human sensitivity, strategy, and experience.
As long as clients reduce design to just the visual aspect, they miss its true potential.
Our job as designers is to EDUCATE even more CLEARLY, to make it visible how much more design entails:
– Target audience analysis
– UX strategy
– Brand positioning
– Information architecture
– Storytelling
– Psychological impact
– Prototyping & testing
– Data-driven iteration
